Get the Answers to Your Questions About miraDry®

If you’re tired of excessive underarm sweat that isn’t effectively controlled by deodorants and antiperspirants, then miraDry® could be the answer for you. This non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment can put an end to uncontrollable underarm sweat and odor once and for all. miraDry® is performed in-office and delivers fast, reliable results. Could miraDry® be right for you? Here are the answers to some questions you may have about the treatment.

What exactly is miraDry®?

miraDry® works by destroying the sweat and odor glands, along with the hair follicles under your arms by targeting them with a proprietary technology called miraWave. After the miraWave energy eliminates the glands, they will not grow back, which means you won’t have any more problems with underarm sweat odor. You will notice a difference in the amount of sweat you experience immediately after your treatment. Some people get the results they want in a single session, while others may need a second treatment to maximize their results.

Is it dangerous to get rid of my sweat glands?
Targeting the specific glands under your arms with miraDry® is completely safe. Of the approximately 2 million sweat glands in your body, only about 2% are in your armpits. Getting rid of these glands will not affect the ability of your body to use sweat to control your temperature. Your body will simply use the remaining sweat glands you have.

Is it painful?

Before your miraDry® treatment begins, your underarms will be numbed using a local anesthesia. During the treatment, which takes approximately one hour, you should not feel any discomfort. After your treatment, you may have some soreness, tingling, and swelling in your armpits. These symptoms are minor and will go away on their own over the following days and weeks.
